Locked out of Facebook!

I woke up this morning and logged in to Facebook on my iPhone as usual. I tried to log in but kept getting the error that my username, email or password was incorrect. I obviously tried to re-enter each piece of information slowly and precisely. I still kept getting the error message.  I therefore went to try on my computer.

When I tried to log in on my computer I got a totally different response:

I was upset, frightened and confused. What could I have possibly done??? I clicked on the link for their FAQ page ( http://www.facebook.com/help/?page=45 ). First I went through the Why was my account disabled? section:

I am still trying to figure out how this happened to me. Did someone report me? Did I do something to someone and they decided to get back at me?

I started going through each of the possible reasons Facebook can disable my account. I read through their complete Statement of Rights and Responsibilities of December 21, 2009 ( http://www.facebook.com/terms.php ). That was long and full of legalese.

I then went back to the Disabled Account FAQ page and tried the Can I see the content that got me disabled? section ( http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=1582 ) which provides one simple phrase:

Unfortunately, for technical and security reasons, Facebook cannot provide you with a description or copy of the removed content.

That wasn't helpful. I can't see any security reason why Facebook cannot display, to the supposed perpetrator, whatever content has caused them to disable the account. I certainly cannot imagine any security reason why they would not provide a description.

Finally I went to the I think my account was disabled by mistake section ( http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=13575 ):

So I wrote an e-mail to disabled@facebook.com.
